Privacy Policy – how DocClean handles your data

DocClean is built with privacy in mind. The core PDF redaction tool runs entirely in your browser, so your documents are never uploaded to our servers. This page explains what we do and do not collect, and how you can control your data.

Do you store or upload my PDFs?

No. When you use the DocClean redaction tool, the PDF is read by your browser and rendered onto a canvas. OCR and redaction happen locally in the same tab. We do not receive copies of your PDFs and we do not keep any server-side archive of your documents.

What personal data might be processed in the tool?

The whole purpose of DocClean is to remove personal data from documents before you share them. While you are using the tool, your browser processes any names, addresses, IDs, financial details or other PII that are present in your PDF, but this happens only in memory on your device. We do not use that content for profiling or training.

Do you use cookies or analytics?

We may use privacy-conscious analytics to understand how the site is used (for example, basic page view counts and performance metrics). These analytics do not have access to the content of your documents. Where cookies or local storage are used, it is primarily for remembering preferences and improving the experience.

For more detail, see Cookies & Tracking.

Who is responsible for compliance with GDPR / CCPA?

DocClean is a technical tool. When you use it with real personal data, you are the data controller (or your organisation is) and you remain responsible for complying with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and any other applicable privacy laws. Our role is to minimise exposure by helping you remove PII before sharing.

Please review our Legalities & Disclaimer for more legal context.

How can I contact you about privacy?

If you have questions about privacy, data handling or this policy, you can reach out via the contact details provided on the site or any support channels listed in the footer. Please avoid including sensitive personal data in support requests.
